with Mona El-Shimi
A collaboration with Egyptian author Mona El-Shimi on the first English translation of her best-selling memoir, As Large as a Grape, which chronicles her son's battle with brain cancer.

Ms El-Shimi is the recipient of numerous awards for her literary work, including the Katara Prize for Arabic Novels, the Sawiris Foundation Literature Award, and a BBC Radio Award. As Large as a Grape has been longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Literature, also known as the 'Arabic Booker'.

A Novel
Mr Makadi's new novel follows the challenges and triumphs of a young woman as she navigates the social, familial, and cultural complexities of her Egyptian and American lives in the late 1990s.
